Carpentry
Bespoke Carpentry & Custom Joinery in Johor
In short
Bespoke carpentry is joinery designed and fabricated for a specific space rather than assembled from standard modules. Rykasc Dco fabricates its own through Timber Touch Woodworks, an in-house workshop that also runs material research for Johor’s humidity, so specification decisions are tested rather than assumed.

Why the workshop is in house
Joinery is where most interior projects fail quietly. A cabinet that is four millimetres out is invisible in a photograph and irritating every day for ten years. Subcontracted carpentry means the fabricator is working to a drawing they did not help produce, in a workshop the designer has never visited.
Timber Touch Woodworks sits inside our company. Our detailers walk into the workshop. Prototypes get built and rejected before anything reaches a client’s home, and the tolerances we draw are the tolerances the machines actually hold.
Building for Johor humidity
Johor runs high humidity year round, and properties near the Straits carry salt in the air. Materials that perform in a catalogue photographed in a temperate climate behave differently here. Substrate choice, edge sealing, ventilation behind carcasses and hardware corrosion resistance all decide whether joinery still closes properly in year five.
This is what the research side of the workshop exists for. Plywood grade, adhesive type, veneer backing and finish system are specified against local conditions rather than against a supplier’s brochure.
What we fabricate
Kitchen and wet kitchen cabinetry, wardrobes and walk-in systems, TV and feature walls, study and library joinery, reception counters and retail display, and architectural elements such as screens, slat walls and ceiling features.
Carpentry can be commissioned as part of a full design and build project or as a standalone package where another party is handling the wider works.
Common questions
- Can I commission carpentry without a full design project?
- Yes. Carpentry can be commissioned as a standalone package. We will still measure on site and detail it properly, because joinery fabricated from someone else’s dimensions is the most common source of fitting problems.
- What material do you recommend for kitchens in Johor?
- It depends on the specific wet and dry zones and on ventilation, but moisture-resistant substrates with fully sealed edges are the baseline in this climate. Standard chipboard carcasses do not survive long in a Johor wet kitchen.
- Do you provide a warranty on joinery?
- Yes. Joinery is covered under the project defect liability period. Confirm the exact duration in your contract, as it varies with the scope of works.
